 Calculation Using The New Tax Rates Calculation Using The Old Tax Rates ExampleIf the salary of an employee is 2,000 Birr.By referring to the above table, we can see that 2,000 birr falls in the No. 4 row. So, Tax Rate = 15% and deduction = 142.50Income Tax = (2,000 Birr x 15%) - 142.50 BirrIncome Tax = 300 Birr - 142.50 = 157.50 BirrEmployee Pension = 2,000 Birr x 7% = 140 BirrEmployee Net Income = 2,000 Birr - 157.50 - 140 = 1702.50 BirrNet Income = 1,702.50 Birr ExampleIf the salary of an employee is 2,000 Birr.By referring to the above table, we can see that 2,000 birr falls in the No. 4 row. So, Tax Rate = 20% and deduction = 117.50Income Tax = (2,000 Birr x 20%) - 117.50 BirrIncome Tax = 400 Birr - 117.50 = 282.50 BirrEmployee Pension = 2,000 Birr x 7% = 140 BirrEmployee Net Income = 2,000 Birr - 282.50 - 140 = 1,577.50 BirrNet Income = 1,577.50 Birr

So, for a person earning 2,000 birr per month, the new ethiopian taxation system will increase his/her net income by almost 125 birr.
