Heineken to Claim No1 Production Capacity

Heineken Ethiopia is set to inaugurate its one year expansion project executed at a total cost of 2.4 billion Br. The project will give the company the highest production capacity in Ethiopia’s brewery industry. When fully operational the capacity of Heniken is expected to surpass the current leader in the industry, BGI Ethiopia by one million hectoliter.

Dashen Brewery to Begin Production at Two Billion Birr Plant

Dashen Brewery Plc is to begin production at its newly constructed second plant, built in Debre Birhan town.

The plant will produce two million hectolitres in its first year and three million hectolitres after that, according to Dessalegn Mekonnen, project manager. The new factory is producing the same quality of beer as Dashen’s first plant in Gonder with the same packaging and 4.5pc of alcohol.

Habesha Beer Enters The Market

Habesha Beer started distribution on July 11, 2015, 20 days after commencing production, with a limited market in Debre Birhan, Addis Abeba and Adama.

In terms of share capital distribution, Habesha Beer has 8,800 shareholders including idirs, equbs, and Ethiopians in the Diaspora, with shares of 4,000 Br to 5,000,000 Br, Yonas Alemu, Habesha’s commercial director disclosed. Ahadu Plc and Vasari Group open a Biscuit factory in Debre Zeit (Bishoftu)

A biscuit factory, owned by Ahadu Plc and a UK-based company called Vasari Group, started production of seven varieties on May 2, 2015.

The factory is based on a 42,000sqm plot of land leased by Ahadu Plc in Bishoftu, Oromia, 40Km south-east of Addis Abeba. Ahadu, producer of Ahadu tea, and other businesses in packaging and real estate, had already started construction on its land in November 2012.

BGI’s Hawassa Plant to Boost Beer Capital Production to 1.44m hl

BGI Ethiopia, Ethiopia’s giant brewery, received eight large fermentation tanks for the expansion of its Hawassa plant on Thursday January 15, 2014 with an investment of 30 million euros.
