Awash Bank has announced that it has recorded a pre-tax profit of 22.6 billion birr in the 2024/2025 financial year. The bank’s CEO, Ato Tsehai Shiferaw, gave a press conference regarding the performance of the 2024/2025 financial year. In a statement, the bank’s CEO, Ato Tsehai Shiferaw, said that Awash Bank has achieved a pre-tax profit of 22.7 billion birr following the end of the fiscal year. The CEO also explained that it was able to collect 2.1 billion dollars in foreign exchange during the fiscal year. The bank collected 106 billion birr in deposits during the fiscal year, which is a 42 percent increase compared to the previous year. The CEO also indicated that the number of branches has reached 989. The bank added 52 new branches and more than 3 million new customers during the fiscal year. Awash Bank was established 30 years ago on November 10, 1994, by 486 founding shareholders with a paid-up capital of Birr 24.2 million, and began regular banking operations on February 13, 1995.
